Twyford 246/8 lost at Sparsholt 266/6. An excellent win for Sparsholt today against a very well organised Twyford side. Losing the toss and put into bat, Sparsholt had to work hard for runs with Twyford showing the value of tight fielding and some excellent field positions that stopped boundaries being scored. Some good knocks from Harry White, Oscar Kipps and Owen Thomas were surpassed by Felix Inglis and Oliver Steven who both scored 12 from only 2 overs each. Defending 266/6, Sparsholt bowled well and kept the extras down. Fielding was tight with some really good backing up to protect every run, and while Twyford initially looked like they might chase down the modest Sparsholt total, the loss of some Twyford wickets owing to some great catching by Archie, Henry and Oscar turned the game. A valiant attempt by Twyford’s last pair was not enough to reach the target, and Sparsholt won by 20 runs. Thank you to all for being so supportive with cricket teas and parenting keen, positive boys who are great ambassadors for cricket. Particular mention to Ethan Coles on debut and Oliver Steven for being a supportive and versatile 12th man (or 11th man, in his case).
